        Amazing Year 4 memories

Year 4 Caythorpe Court PGL residential visit March 16th -18th 2022

“WOW! What an amazing few days away with an amazing group of children and staff!” Mrs Claire Dickinson, Year four leader at Bourne Abbey Primary Academy.

Year four children and staff at Bourne Abbey certainly showed what courageous and resilient individuals they really are as they battled the elements on our first day at Caythorpe Court PGL. Whilst the rain lashed down, the children’s spirits were not dampened as they cheered their peers and challenged themselves to climb Jacob’s Ladder; endeavoured to hit the bull’s eye at Archery and held their nerve as they swung 10 metres above the ground on the Giant Swing. With the sun shining on day two and three, pupils displayed great communication skills, team work and lateral thinking as they completed the Problem-Solving activities and Buggy Building challenge. What a delight it was to hear the children making friends across the year group and encouraging each other to persevere as they inched to the top of the Trapeze pole and to see their huge smiles as they experienced the exhilarating flight through the sky on the zip wire.

“This is my best holiday ever!” Layton Forsyth

“I’ve surprised myself with how brave I am!” Ollie Fisher

It wasn’t just in the activities that the children shone. At meal times the children were polite and independent and their team work and friendly cooperation was apparent as they organised their dormitories, especially ready for room inspections.

A huge thank you goes out to the parents and carers who helped to organise and prepare the children for one of their first residential visits. We know you are as proud of them as we are.

Well done Year 4, we hope you take away with you some amazing memories and lasting friendships.

Of course, it wasn’t just those children who went on the visit who excelled themselves. Pupils and staff at school had a fun filled few days as they became board game designers; experts at studying invertebrates and of course amazing pizza creators.  This small group of children showed creativity, cooperation and simply knew how to have fun! Well done to everyone in Year 4, we are a great team!
