On Thursday 5th December Year 6 immersed themselves in their World War Two enrichment day by dressing in wartime costumes and discovering more about the impact of the war on the lives of ordinary people.
Pupils began by learning about the rationing of food and other essential supplies during the war and then enjoyed working together to bake eggless Christmas cakes. They were amazed at how delicious the cake was and many are now planning to make it at home for their own families.
The day continued with the children finding out about life in British cities during the Blitz and they then went on to create London skylines to represent their learning.
Mrs Claire Dickinson, Year 6 Leader, said “At the end of the day, the children were able to showcase their learning to their parents and carers by presenting their stunning ‘take care’ homework and class topic work. It was a truly fantastic day of learning!”
