Striving For Excellence, Caring For All In a Loving And Caring Christian Environment.

        Worshipping within our Local Community

        Author: Jill Bates

On Monday 15th May the Collective Worship Council took the opportunity to share our Christian Value of ‘Trust’ within our local community at the Cedars care home. Once again, our councillors were filled with amazing ideas and stories to share.

The Collective Worship Council planned and prepared their own worship together, basing it this time on the Bible story of ‘Noah’s Ark’. Not only was the story shared but also the councillors discussed how Noah showed many of our Christian Values such as ‘Courage’, ‘Perseverance’ and ‘Hope’. Many felt the story of Noah highlighted how much trust Christians do put in God.

The council also recited our memory verse for this half of the term and asked the reflection question to the residents, “Why is trust still important in a modern world?”

Our children aspired to make the worship inclusive to all; invitational by offering for those to join into the act of worship if they wished and inspiring through their acting and thoughtful props. The Collective Worship Council closed their worship by sharing prayers they had written themselves based on the theme of ‘Trust Today’; we also explained different elements of our Collective Worship to the residents and their relevance.

Following this, the children led an activity with the residents, and all participated in the craft of making friendship bracelets which everyone thoroughly enjoyed! The children, of all ages from Year 1 through to 6, shared the activity and taught both themselves and the residents the art of braiding which enabled the children and residents to further develop their spirituality through crafting.
