World Book Day had the WOW factor!

The theme of this year’s World Book Day was ‘Share a Story’ so the children were treated to extracts from the teacher’s favourite stories and Mr Bellamy’s creepy tale ‘The Demon Dentist’ was particularly popular! Younger children enjoyed sharing old favourites like ‘The Gruffalo’ by Julia Donaldson and there were lots of laughs from ‘Gangsta Granny’! To tie in with the theme of ‘Share a Story’ children at Bourne Elsea Park had the chance to bring a book to the ‘Swap Shop’ where they could donate a book and receive another book for free!

Throughout the day children had the opportunity to relax with some uninterrupted, quality reading time with their friends. Across both schools, children were busy immersed in World Book Day themed maths challenges as well as stepping into the shoes of authors, illustrators and poets!

Miss Fleming, Year 3 Teacher said, ‘Our children always throw themselves into the day with such enthusiasm! As teachers, we naturally try to promote a love of reading throughout the year, but World Book Day is always an extra special opportunity for everyone to come together and enjoy their favourites!’
