The Door!
Bourne Abbey’s Site Manager, Mr Pateman was in for a shock on the morning of Friday 27th September 2019 when, whilst on his morning rounds, he discovered a magical door in the corner of the school environmental area…
This was the latest mystery the children of Bourne Abbey have been exploring as part of a writing experience. The children, after been shown a video of the Mr Pateman finding the door, journeyed to the field to see the door for themselves and consider where the magical opening might lead. A forgotten land, mountains filled with elves and mystical creatures, Narnia or even a secret underground cave were amongst the imaginative suggestions that the children conjured up and used within their brilliant writing examples. Mr Shore, Assistant Head said, “It was wonderful to see the children so engaged, enlightened and involved in their learning. It is experiences like this that help build their imagination and really ‘open the door’ to creative writing.’
