        Patterns, patterns everywhere!

At the end of term our focus story in Reception was Elmer. The children listened carefully to the story, made predictions about what might happen next and talked about new vocabulary such as “herd, parade” etc. The children retold the story in their own words and also acted it out in PE. A highlight of the week was a very colourful Elmer Day when the children and staff dressed in a variety of patterns and colours. The children enjoyed mixing colours to paint a large Elmer, designed their own elephant and made repeating patterns with musical instruments and body percussion. The children paraded their outfits for all to see. A great time was had by all! Miss Helen Bergmann, Reception Year Leader, said “We have had fantastic time learning about patterns, exploring indoors and outdoors to find patterns in the environment as well as making and continuing repeating patterns.”
