        Message From The Executive Headteacher/CEO

Mrs Sarah Moore (Executive Headteacher/CEO of Abbey Academies Trust)

‘Every child will be valued, cared for and excel in our exceptional academy’

We are delighted to welcome you to Bourne Abbey Church of England Primary Academy.

Bourne Abbey holds an important position as a long-established and highly-regarded school within the Bourne community. We are proud to be a school where learning comes first. Our curriculum is exciting and inspires in our pupils a love of learning. Our vision for each child is that they will work towards their personal best, in a caring atmosphere, which reflects British values and the Christian values of our school. We encourage our pupils to have a very positive self-image and to be confident in their learning.

You will see smiling faces when you visit us, but you will also see exceptional learning and teaching in every part of the school. Our pupils achieve great results and academic standards are very important to us. We also love sports, music, dance and drama and produce fabulous art work across a broad curriculum. All pupils are offered a wide range of opportunities, activities and after-school clubs from expertise within school and also from outside providers.  Visitors to the school and educational visits provide opportunities to extend learning to the wider learning environment, as do quality residential study visits offered in Years 4 and 6.

We have close links with our own Abbey Church and other local churches, charity groups and Town Council, organising events and forums in association with them.  Our pupils reach out to groups in the town and the wider environment, for example in the choir and music ensemble visits to senior citizens.  We take part in music festivals and we also visit and celebrate festivals of other faiths and religions, as well as support charities near and far.  We have network links and close links with other large schools, local primary and secondary schools.

Education is a partnership between home and school and we place a great deal of emphasis on our relationship with parents/carers. We believe that children learn best when home and school work together for their benefit. The school offers extended childcare provision from 7.30am to 6pm from 2 yrs to 11 yrs.  This takes the form of a Breakfast Club, our pre-school provision Abbey Ark and After-School Kids’ Club.

Care and safety of the individual is seen as central to the roles of all members of staff, trustees and governors. Arrangements for safeguarding pupils are firmly established in Bourne Abbey’s policies and working practices and daily emphasis through the ethos of the school.

At Bourne Abbey we are never complacent. We have hard-working staff, parents/carers, pupils, trustees and governors who work together to achieve a shared vision for a school community where everyone can feel safe and happy and can achieve to their personal, social and academic potential.

We know that the bar is, quite rightly, set high for education now and in the future and we welcome this. We will continue to both develop our fabulous academy and be ‘architects for the future of education’ based on school to school support which includes our own partner schools Bourne Elsea Park C of E Primary Academy and Colsterworth C of E Primary School.

By working in partnership we are assured of excellent support for all our great leaders, teachers, staff, trustees and governors which will ensure exceptional provision for all our pupils and our community.

Our future is bright as we continue to ‘Strive for Excellence Whilst Caring for All’! We look forward to working in partnership with you as together we guide your child through these important primary school years of their education.
