        KS2 Sports Day!

        Author: Helen Fleming

The sun, although a little shy at first, shone on Bourne Abbey’ s field, adding to the amazing spectacle that was Years 4, 5 and 6 sports day. It was a fantastic colourful sight to see the children all competing in their house colour t-shirts and being able to compete for their houses once more in teams. The children took part in a number of races, some fun as well as some extremely competitive sprint and relay races. The standard of competition was high and there were some outstanding performances from individuals; some really talented athletes on display. The pupils demonstrated a lot of fantastic traits: determination to do well both for themselves and for their house; perseverance, humility, teamwork and comradery but most importantly – fun. There were huge smiles on the children’s faces throughout, which was a joy to see and all the staff were incredibly proud of their year groups.
Robin house proved too strong for the other houses on the day finishing in first place. Mrs Cherry, PE Leader, said, “It was tremendous to see the children compete so respectfully whilst although having plenty of fun. They all showed amazing humility, teamwork, determination and courage and it was an added bonus to see so many beaming smiles all afternoon. We, as staff, are extremely proud of every single child at Bourne Abbey for their efforts.”
