        It’s Harvest Time…to say a great big thank you, I mustn’t forget!

It may be chilly outside, but our hearts are warm here at Bourne Abbey C of E Primary Academy due to the school and community spirit that we experienced this week when our KS1 and Year 3 children enjoyed learning about and sharing the importance of Harvest Festival.

‘It’s Harvest Time!’ echoed around the hall as our gorgeous Year 1 children sang and danced in our Harvest Festival. The children have been singing their hearts out to a variety of songs. ‘Cauliflowers fluffy and cabbages green,’ were just some of the vegetables sung about during our Harvest celebration this year. The children have learnt that it is a time to celebrate and give thanks for the crops which have been safely harvested.

Our Year 3 children sang ‘It’s Amazing What Farmers Do’ to the beat of David Guetta. The lyrics helped to remind us that farmers work tirelessly to plough their fields and collect the crops for us. We know that Christians believe God made the world and everything in it and Harvest is the time for Christians to thank God for the food.

Stuck in our minds is the sound of our talented Year 2’s who sang the ‘Harvest Samba!’ brilliantly. We have been blown away with the incredible food donations for Bourne Food Bank from all of our school families.

Miss Bergmann, Year Leader at Bourne Abbey said: “The children sang with incredible energy and enthusiasm during our Harvest Service in school. It’s wonderful to see all the food donations from our school families that will benefit our local community.”
