        Christmas Card Recycling

Both Bourne Abbey and Bourne Elsea Park are excited to be taking part in The Christmas Card Recycling Challenge organised by local businesses; Diverse Utility Solutions and Commercial Waste Connections. Over 900 million cards are sent in one year and the aim of the challenge is to raise awareness of how much is thrown away.

A number of other local schools have also accepted the challenge to collect as many used Christmas cards as possible for recycling by 31st January and the school with the heaviest weight of cards (per pupil) will win a prize.

The children are busy collecting up cards from all their friends and family to help us win.

Mrs Verity Youngs and Miss Alex Worrall, class teachers at Bourne Abbey and Bourne Elsea Park, said “It would be fantastic if we win but in the meantime the children are enjoying the challenge and learning about the importance of recycling along the way.”

If you have cards you would like to recyle you are welcome to drop them off at either school by January 31st  but please no cards with ribbons, glitter or foil as these cannot be recycled.
