        Bourne Abbey Bakes For Books!

Following the inaugural success of our ‘Bring and Buy’ book collection and sale on World Book Day, the English Team at Bourne Abbey were very excited to announce the next stage of raising money for new books for our children – a ‘Bake For Books’ sale, which meant we could sell some delicious cakes this time around as well!

We were simply staggered by the number of cakes that were brought in on the Wednesday morning, so we split them between Key Stage One and Key Stage Two. This meant we could have two stalls selling cakes and books at the end of the day!

As before, our wonderful Reading Ambassadors showed their pride and perseverance by helping to sell our cakes and second-hand books at the end of the school day. One of our Reading Ambassadors said, “we can’t believe how many cakes we managed to sell – we seemed to start off with so many!”

A special mention must go to our parents, many of whom helped bake cakes from scratch, at home with their children. “It’s this kind of amazing generosity that makes Bourne Abbey such a special place to be – so thank you from all of us,” added Mr Whiteway.

In the end, we managed to raise a simply staggering £339.95! We are looking forward to buying some fantastic books for the children to enjoy because of this – thank you again.
