Bombs and Bunkers!
Year 6 Blitz Experience
Today we gained an understanding of the Blitz through an experience.
It began with loud, wailing sirens pulsating through the Year 6 block. We quickly evacuated to find shelter in the hall. We clambered into the bunker and listened to the droning sounds of the Luftwaffe scattering bombs above our heads. There were huge explosions that shook the ground beneath us. Barely any lights shone through the tightly packed shelter but you could see flickers of amber as the fires, from the devastation above, grew with anger.
We really enjoyed the stunning start to our WW2 topic and it gave us an understanding to what it was like during the Blitz.
