A Mysterious Encounter in Year 3!

        Author: Helen Fleming

Something extraordinary unfolded in Year 3 today! As we entered the classroom, we were met with a curious assortment of objects scattered across our tables—berries, rocks, stones, soil, and intriguing photos of an unfamiliar settlement. With leopard-print fabric wrapped around our heads and wrists, we couldn’t help but wonder… What on earth was happening?

Suddenly, an elderly, rugged, and rather peculiar-looking figure appeared on our screens. This was no ordinary visitor—it was a man from the past. A true Stone Age wanderer! He told us of his unexpected journey through a dense forest, tumbling down, down, down… until he found himself in a deep, shadowy cave.

With curiosity leading the way, we crawled through a tiny entrance and discovered his ancient dwelling. Flickering torchlight revealed a crackling fire and breath-taking cave paintings covering the walls—realistic images that told stories of long ago. We had stepped into a world we had never imagined!

Inspired by our exploration, we set to work uncovering the secrets of the Stone Age. We investigated when this fascinating era began, sketched prehistoric animals, and even got our hands messy painting with natural materials like mud and berries. The excitement only grew as we watched a video showcasing Stone Age creatures—we were stunned by the sheer size of the mighty woolly mammoth!

This is just the beginning of our time-traveling adventure. We can’t wait to dig even deeper into the past and unearth more wonders of the Stone Age this term!
